Slam Dunk is a sports action mobile game brought to you by DeNA and Toei Animation studios. Based off the original manga/anime series Slam Dunk. You will have the pleasure handling your team from the main series and play for glory as you fight through your rivals! Best of all you have the chance to experience different competitive game modes outside of the story!
For some reason, I have to download this game because the English version of the game is not available yet on Qooapp.
TENSAI !!!!! And Sakuragi dunks the ball!
I grew up knowing Slam Dunk. I just know about it and only watched 1 episode of it from the television. It's not that I'm not a fan. I'm just most of the time prohibited to watch anime or cartoons on TV.
Jokes on my parents, I still became a weeb. lol
Come on Sei! No one cares! Make it fast!
Shut up kid! Alright! To the review it is!
SLAM DUNK Mobile game is more of a casual basketball game rather than a competitive one like a 2K basketball.
I mean, what do you expect right? It's an anime game with basketball. Plus the game's character design are chibis so it's kind of hard to take seriously.
That's where you're gonna be bamboozled! It's like Brawlstars. Just chibi, toony characters that just do their thing which makes you not notice it and you will keep seeing it and will decide to download.
At first, you're like: "OMG, this is sooo boring. Is this it?" Then you will came to know the game's mechanics, the techniques, skill and growth system of the game. Every character has a chance of growth and skill set for winning games which which gives a kind of RPG feel on how you make your character strong or the best of them all.
Can you really make your favorite character the best and all-time scoring genius on this game? Probably or probably not. Why? Because there are characters that might be a better scorer than your fave character overall. It's really up to you how you will handle those kind of characters. But all I can say is the growth system makes you have a fighting chance until you can't make your character grow because you don't have resources. Where to get the resources?! Either at gacha or at the shop! Which you could use your REAL MONEY or not. Up to you.
So, is this a pay to win game Sei?
Well, paying for stuff on this will surely get you go up the ranks faster than free to play guys. But you don't need to pay. As I've said, the game has growth system and you just need to be diligent and improve your fave character/s. Plus! The game is very rewarding! Gives you a lot of stuff on just playing the game. I even made my Sakuragi A rank by just playing.
How about the story Sei?
Ahh.. The story. I haven't watched the anime so I'm not familiar with it yet and I haven't bothered on it that much yet. But on what I've experienced so far, the story is light and has its humor on some parts. The visual-novel touch that they've made on this despite it being looking like just the ones on anime episode is quite amusing. Makes you have a feel that you have some interaction on the story despite there will be really no changes.
How about the game modes Sei?
So there is just a normal 3v3, a ranked game and a 5v5 which is locked on level 19 which also is bummer because the game wants you to be invested on it before you experience the full of it. Was it bad? No. I was able to enjoy the game and won't probably won't feel bored till level 19.
Since it's chibi characters, what can you say about the gameplay?
You might need to get to be used on this game first before you can properly enjoy it. It's like food. It's an acquired taste.
All I can notice and also can serve as a warning for those who want to try the game is it's skill-based. Not just your own skills but also your character's skill. It's on a way on how you're going to use your character's skills to an advantage.
Also, ball release doesn't matter on this game because it's character's skill based and stat base. Unlike NBA games where I can make a center shoot a ball, this game will just base everything on the character's skill and stat. It's not a bad thing but ball release is kind of an expectation for basketball games.
Would you recommend this game?
Yes! It's enjoyable but it might not be for everyone. There is a bit of learning curve and getting used to on this game but once passed, it's enjoyable. Also, the music! It's a classic. It's good they've added the soundtrack of the anime for this game. It would make the fans of the series happy but also make you stay on menu for some tunes.
this gameplay is exactly like Freestyle Basketball PC lol. i was always a fan of it because of its whacky music and ridiculous shots. This game takes the ridiculous shots to the next level.
