🌹 Some of the prettiest art I've ever seen.
I say this as a gacha hell veteran, even SR cards are drawn so beautifully with the loveliest compositions!! ♡
🌹 Surprisingly generous for a Disney game.
I saw other reviews complain about the dia distribution; yes they give modest amounts, but they give them in bulk. I've managed to get 3000 dia (10 pulls) in 3 weeks through the log-in campaigns and grinding so you just need to play & grind consistently as with most gachas!
🌹 Fully voiced main story and amazing overall in writing.
The pace and length is perfect! It's never too long that it feels like a drag but also not too short that you're left unsatisfied & longing for more. Moods are handled very well and I love that they don't compromise quality and consistency!
🥀 I don't really enjoy the actual gameplay aspects.
This is my only gripe. The rhythm beatmaps are ok but a bit funky sometimes. I always find myself letting the game do all the work for me which can be quite boring...
This is one of the most highly anticipated games of summer and it lives up to its hype. The whole thing just screams "Harry Potter!"
You got yeeted to another world through a magic mirror where Disney villains are portrayed as ikemens and ended up in a magical institute called "Knight Ravens College". Upon your arrival you met a feral kitty on the loose(called Grimm) who says that he's gonna become TW's greatest magician. You've also met the flamboyant headmaster of the school(his catchphrase:"Because I'm a nice person!"). Back at the dormitory the 7 dorm leaders are having a sorting hat initiation for the new students. The magic mirror tells you that there isn't anything special about you since you have 0 magic. You tell them it's because you came from another world and you want to go back where you came from, the headmaster agrees to help you. With nowhere else to go, you ended up staying at the institute as u discover the dark secrets of the dormitories.
Since the game is heavily focused on the story, it'll receive alot of criticism from the En community. The graphics and UI are really nice, it reminds me of Obey Me! The gameplay has 2 modes, "auto-battle" and "Rhythmic", once you've finished the tutorials the lesson modes such as Flying, Alchemy, magic classes will be available. Thumbs up for the bgm. The gacha rate however is so-so. Overall do I enjoy it? Heck yes! there are still room for improvements and Im looking forward to the event platform.
[[edit: Pre-Registration users should also claim the milestone gifts before it expires]]
I've played plenty of gacha games and ive played plenty of games that are still in the beginning phases(fun part of beta testing games) Twisted Wonderland is definitely one of the games in its beginning phase. Not all patches are out yet and im quite excited for the next patch updates.
To start the voice acting is amazing (wonderful job VA's),
the animations for the characters are fluid and that goes for the chibi version during battle as well.
The story line and character interactions if you understand (or have a translating app like me) is actually very well done as well and entertaining.
You have three class to choose from study, flying and potions class. Study specifically levels your character and has honey like drops that you can use to level your character on the card tab from the home screen. the flying lessons gives you candy/sweets drops where once again you can use through the card tab but its for progressing a characters story. Potions class gives you different things and has a schedule where each student changes per day (the drops change as well) you'll get text books to level up your current boys magic level and lollipops that help max out your character (once again you use these on the card tab)It will also increase the buddy level of the two characters paired (no you dont get to choose who the characters buddy is).
now some of those drops you can buy through Sam's shop as well but you'll need to do the potion classes to get the potion coins.
If you hit the rhythm tab on the main page you have different levels to play throughout the main story you already completed easy/normal/hard, you also get rewards for doing each one.
Even though not all the patches are out theres still plenty of things to do in the game.(like right now im focusing on maxing my current draws out from their character lvl to magic and their stories) each boy has their own separate story and a character chat.
The best part is that even though it does have in game purchase alot of the items you can get doing the classes it may take longer but for those that dont want to waste money its an option and gives you plenty to do while waiting for the next patches.
The game is not perfect but thats to be expected out of a new game it has a few bugs on certain rhythm parts but other than that hopefully with the next few patches those will be fixed with additional story added.
I think alot of people forget with brand new mobile games you wont have a lot off the bat and you WILL have to wait for each patch update even Magia Record started out rather slow i remember having it when it first popped up on qoo aap (not alot to offer) but as it progressed we got much more out of it so im expecting about the same thing here.
If you do like the game so far and can manage dealing with it being in japanese i do hope you'll continue supporting this game because im positive it will have alot more to offer us as the game continues to be improved.
If you want to understand whats being said in the game or the tabs but you dont have a translation app just search your playstore there's plenty of different options to choose from.
Update: if you all have continued playing id like to add when you get duplicates of the character it fills your limit break which is pretty cool and once its filled you can max out your limit break uping your character stats.
🌸hello hello it's another update to the review this time in regards to events. Now i was personally curious if they were going to treat the events in Twst similar to Magia record and it seems they some what are in regards to when they re-release them which is nice for those that have missed past events. Each event is released around the same time it was previously so you just have to keep an eye out, however it does seem they switched up which boys you get which to me isnt a bad thing it may be a downer to some that wanted the specific ones from last years events but thats not to say they wont drop those in again at some point. The storyline itself is going pretty nicely and im still psyched for the next dorm to be released. It's nice to see that there’s actual lessons to be learned from the boys that get inkblotted that can be used in irl i do tend to love little things like that.
🌟For those that still have issues getting the game on i phone you will have to create a jp apple account. You will want to select an address and zip to use and if i remember setting up my friends a phone number as well (with the power of technology its pretty simple getting what you need.) from there you should be able to directly download twst from the store via your jp account.
for Android users its alot easier even on tablet just get the qoo app and download it from there.
🐉As far as translations you have multiple options, many have already translated the storyline and events thus far on Yt, Tumblr, and certain wiki's. if you wish to translate it yourself both apple and android have translation apps on their stores id recommend looking at reviews before choosing since many have obnoxious ads. also double check if your cell model already comes with a translation app since i noticed some models do have one available you just have to activate it.
if you want another game to play in the mean time and you like strategy military type of games id recommend Isekai demon waifu my friend got me into it and its honestly pretty addicting but its definitely grindy. i do have my complaints about it but its nice while i wait for the next update for twst. another would be omniyoji but booooy does it take up space after that honkai impact is another goodish one to kill time with while waiting for updates.
the graphics is so beautiful as well as the characters design ofcourse. been loving the game since i first played this on april. though, i always uninstall this then install again because my phone can’t handle the size that much lmfao ( i check the size on my phone and it’s almost 4GB )
but it’s worth downloading in my opinion, even if my bad luck is always there. i’m really enjoying the storyline and its sound effects. i can also say that this game has a lot of potential and i’m looking forward to its improvements in the near updates !
ps. ilysm leona <3
.......ok late but *rolls sleeves up*
I really wasn't expecting to get so invested in this but here I am losing the remains of my sanity over Disney villain bishounens. (omg sorry for the bump it's an accident)
Here are my detailed thoughts about Twiste:
- Graphics -
• First thing first, thank god for Yana-sensei's art. It's SO PRETTY. And I like how they animated the sprites, it looks dynamic and the kind of animation suits the entire thing well. (AND THANK GOD FOR TROYCA STUDIO. The opening is great and I really just wanted to praise one of my favourite animation studios.)
Yana-sensei's illustrations are so gorgeous I could stare at them forever. It really makes me want All The Cards lol)
• I think the game looks really good in general. The logos are so pretty and the interface looks really nice too. Though if I had to point one thing out, it'd be that sometimes it took me time to find some things like the profile menu and stuff. Everything isn't all that intuitive and easy to find though it's fine once used to it.
- Sound -
• Oh boy this cast. It's perfect. _(:3 」∠ )_ *whispers thank you* At one point we even get to hear Hama-chan and I'm absolutely overly happy about it.
I'm so very excited for the day they'll be able to make character songs and drama CDs
• The sound quality and OST are pretty nice too overall though the music so far though not bad might be a little repetitive at times in my opinion, especially inside the rhythm game.
- Gameplay -
• The gameplay is overall simple and very easy and I like that it's very accessible. It becomes a little harder in the later songs for the rhythm game and need more card levelling and farming for the battles later on, which is a given I guess. I think it's a good thing that they kept things simple and accessible so new people don't struggle.
• The rhythm game is pretty interesting as it's mixed within the story and illustrates whatever is happening well.
Though if I had to point something out, it'd be that it's actually pretty hard to see where the notes are coming from. Sometimes it's too all over the place and my eyes can't follow properly leading to missing notes that should be really easy to get.
• LOOP-MODE FOR FARMING *worships them*
There is an auto-mode *AND* a loop-mode for farming which means just leaving the game running without having to do anything while getting weekly missions and card training etc done. This is absolutely wonderful. I want my other games to have loop mode too😭
- Storyline -
• It. Is. Great. I really love this and again wasn't expecting to get to invested in it. I'm so excited for what is to come next. I like how the story is written and absolutely love the parallels between the dorm leaders and the Disney villains they're each representing.
The way the introduce the Disney villains is also very fresh and neutral-positive which is something I really like as well.
• Everyone is so endearing in their own ways. Since we don't want spoilers I am not going into details here but god I cried so much real tears lol
• Edit: I don't know where to add this but since May they started doing events, and god. I love them. I love the cards, the sprites, the stories, it's all great😭💕
- Value -
• Gacha rate of 1.5%, normal kind of rate. Can't complain. (Especially when my other games have a rate of under 0.7% lol) I think it's pretty ok, especially there aren't that many cards yet and there is a guaranteed SSR after 100 pulls which I think is really nice! If only my other games did this as well....h
Edit: True though that 300 gems is a lot and pretty hard to get once past the beginning of the game when everything we did was rewarded with gems. Everyone ganbafight!!
And so! That's about it. I might edit some stuff later on I guess? But I think I said everything I wanted to say.
Thank you for reading!
The first time I heard about this game is from Twitter, from one of the people that I follow. So I became really curious of what all the hype is about.
When I first started playing I heven't had the idea that it will become one of my favourite games and honestly I'm still surprised that I'm still playing and enjoying it.
The graphics are really pleasing to look at, the character models and the chibi's have great movement and well lip sync with their voices.
The sound is nice, the voice actors do a great job and the theme and tracks from the game are pleasant to hear.
Now, when it comes to the gameplay I have a problem. Let's start from the biggest one I have and it's the rhythm aspect. I have no problem with anything in the rhythm games except of the fact that sometimes the rhythm games just don't work.
The strategy part is just good, not great but it's not really problematic or anything.
The storyline is actually great! I usually really dislike otome games because the plot and story is just basic copy-paste and nothing too interesting. But this one is pretty good~!
Now, the gacha is really great compared to games like BanGDream. The whole thing about getting an SSR after 100 rolls is really sweet to be honest, and when it comes to the art itself is just really beautiful.
i love twisted wonderland, ever since i played this, i turned into a simp. Game's pretty enjoyable, i love the graphics, character design and their voice (the seiyuus did an amazing job, especially those that had to scream when their characters overblotted).
Plot is intriguing + dark and is well done! Character movements are smooth and unique to each character, their outfits can be a bit bizzare (cough Rook's hat) but it represents them! I love to see how each character moves in lessons, all of them are different when they go flying, answering a question or brewing!Their chibis are so cute!!
However the gameplay gets boring overtime, it's not that bad though. You can do other stuff when you have to go grind ^^ The battles are simple to understand and easy to defeat earlier on, the rhythm on the other hand is a bit funky and isn't the best. The stamina recovers at a decent rate compared to a lot of games that require grinding.
Gacha rates is tough but generous for a disney game, hard to get a SSR sadly but I love that SR cards has a beautiful art and still can be effective as the SSRs! I like that the game makes the MC a they/them or any gender that the player wants!
Overall, this game is cute and i'll recommend it to anyone who likes disney villians, good stories and unique gameplay!
It's been quite the wait but here it is! Graphics are very well-done, and with high-end phone models you can experience very smooth graphics and fully appreciate Yana Toboso's art! Soundtracks are great as well, I've been bopping to their main theme song months before and the OSTs are very Disney-like. Gameplay is meh, it's something you would play if you're really bored or just playing for the boys and their seiyuus (in my case). The battle mechanism is okay, and the rhythm section is mediocre.
For us international fans to fully-appreciate what the game has to offer, we need a global version. It's the story and commus each character has in store for us which wouls make us play more often. I'm still gonna play for now and wait for Epel's SSR, as well as Diasomnia to arrive (pls I need Lilia). Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty swell game, but there's nothing much unique within gameplay in terms of the market. Also, the character sprites are effin' adorable, one of the reasons I'll still play.
Hello there… Sincerely, I’m here to review Twisted Wonderland for you if you doubt to play this game or if you want to play this game but you don’t know a thing.
• Language. Maybe some of you have no idea why Twisted Wonderland doesn’t have an English option in language setting (even I doubt there is a language setting). Well, it’s simply because Twisted Wonderland hasn’t release in English server yet. What if you can’t read kanji, katakana, hiragana, or don’t know Japanese? Fear no more, there is fan-translating for main story on YouTube, personal story and voice lines on Wikipedia fandom and Tumblr although they didn’t translate all of them. For navigate the game, there is a tutorial on YouTube and it easy to understand the basic to play this game because there’s still some button or name that’s using English.
• I don’t have any issue with the gacha system although I always suck with gacha but it’s my own problem. Widely, it’s fair enough.
• It’s a rhythm game and (as far as I know because I’m still playing at Octavinelle’s episode) it has 2 different styles to play according to which chapter you play and what happen in that chapter. There are two 2-4 buttons in vertical or horizontal and some buttons that could fade away after you press it (kinda like osu!). About the music, almost all of them are instrumental music except some rhythm game from Pomefiore’s chapter. I admit it’s unique to using different style rhythm game but several players complained sometimes the rhythm game doesn’t synchro between when you pressed the screen and what happened in-game, to put it simple, sometimes it lags. I hope they fix it soon.
• Despite it’s a rhythm game, we could still enjoy another type game that is battle between two groups. The group from player have 5 member and the group from enemy side have 2-5 member but if you reach a chapter about an overblot character, you will against 1 character as the main boss. This system seems like Clash Royale and Obey Me! to me. If you ever play those games, you will feel some similarity so you can grasp how to manage this battle system in no time but I think you will take some times to understand each function for each item to upgrades your cards. Personally, I like their idea to put battle section so you don’t feel bored about the rhythm game because you could still do something else.
• You can train your card in Lesson that divided into 3 lesson that is flying lesson, history lesson, and alchemy lesson. You can gain different benefit according to what lesson you take. There is an auto and loop button so you don’t have to press the screen all the time. Maybe some of you saw it as a boring thing but if you already simp one of those characters from Twisted Wonderland, I tell you sweetie, it doesn’t matter anymore. Trust me
• I don’t have any problem with that white thing to start a lesson because it took short time to refill it and there are some items to refill it automatically without waiting.
• Both the voice actors and the staffs who made the music/song did a great job. They successfully bring the atmosphere of the whole NRC. No comment for them.
• If you asked me about the art, no doubt it’s a masterpiece because the main artist is YANA TOBOSO y’all! THANK YOU, YANA TOBOSO!! Because of you, I trust in Jade and Cater supremacy. Well done, you make me simp for them
I think I typed too long so that’s all from me. Have a nice day!
I was curious, so I took a risk, and fell down this rabbit hole. Was not disappointed though.
Graphic: I've been a fan of Yana Toboso's artstyle since forever, so the graphic absolutely speaks to me. It's not your normal shining kirakira boys, but they shines in their own way, and the design actually differs for all characters.
Gameplay: I play a lot of grinding gacha before, but in this game grinding is just pressing the loop button. That's it. I don't even need to set up macro. Absolutely brilliant, and very much less tedious. The rthymic game is actually fun, and the music for it is while of course not on a rthyme-game level, still very good and decent. Boss fight isn't actually that hard if you grind enough to level your card. In short word, perfect gameplay for a side game. You can however get bored of it if you're not used to the grinding mechanics of gacha game. No, the loop button is a gift, not a mistake.
Sound: Background music is okayish, nothing too special. The main story is full-voiced, and is very good. Also I keep seeing Eichi face whenever Lilia talks but that's just me I guess.
Storyline: This is where twst shines. I love the concept about a twisted wonderland. So far they've managed to create their own story, while keeping the relevance to the original plot. The important thing is, somehow it doesn't feel like a carbon-copy. The story is fully translated in English, and I absolutely love it.
Value: 1.5% rate for SSR is honestly BAD. But there's this good guarantee system that gives you SSR after 100 rolls no matter whether you've rolled SSR or not (i.e. it doesn't reset after you got a SSR). It will balance out if you actually pay for gem. The game also gives lot of gems in form of mission and login present, but of course it's tedious.
Overall, enjoying it so far. I'm excited about both the grand plot and event story. They've done a really good job, giving the female fanbase a finally good gacha game with interesting world building.
