The game is actually fun once you learn how to get around it. For me personally those crystals (the gacha(ish) currency) are a bit hard to grind. I don't understand nor speak Japanese but by far it seems to follow the story really similarly, which is nice.
There's tons of cards to collect but I haven't really had the best luck, I'm actually a bit confused why there's some that are technically women ones (no offense here, it was just surprising to me). The gameplay is still a bit confusing but that one special skill keeps confusing me but I got it now, so it's all good lmao
I usually play it on low volume, so I kind of can't hear much of the voice acting, the graphics are really good in my opinion and remind me somewhat of that one JoJo's bizarre adventure game (i forgot it's name), the cards also look very good. Bit sad that i missed the Tokyo Revengers collab thoo
I doubt the game will get an english translation anytime soon but I really don't care lmao
Overall I'd say the game is good. :)
I play this for 600+ days according to the achievement reward, and there's STILL this bug with a seemingly random choice heat move getting stuck upon use and not allowing you to press other ones till the end of the fight... anyway the best parts of this game right now are donpachi (union v union) twice a day and monthly ”ultimate battle” quest set which requires unique attribute cards clears every time, – which is not much in total, and its harder for the completely new players to get good equipment for the character cards now as no event card is available though free to play means anymore, and the main storyline hasn't been updated for months, and they stopped doing small event stories filling the gaps (like Sera's last encounter, or how Haruka ended with Hamasaki's will), which also completely lost in time for the new people, so. The new game owner company doesn't know what to do plot wise, it seems. Right now they remembered about og gacha characters (assorted Kamurocho citizens) and resumed making some event stories about those at least but mainly they just issue new stronger cards each week, that's it.
It's very p2w. Only play if you love the series and enjoy gacha game.
1.Rarity
Most SSRs are weak and could be considered useless compared to a handful of them. There's even different version of SSR, The black editon (黒), Glitter edition or basically a holographic (輝) both of these version are immensely stronger than most of the normal ones. It gets worse, there is even higher rarity, KSR, Kiwami Super Rare. Of course, KSRs should be stronger than SSRs, but it's in the same situation as SSR as I earlier mentioned. There are already bunch of useless KSRs out there already. So, while SSRs are not hard to pull, most of the time you will be pulling useless ones.
2.Upgrading Character
AND IT GETS EVEN WORSE. Leveling up characters are a pain in the neck. You need Dragon Balls (龍玉), ten of them, or a duplicate of that same card to unlock the limit of your card's level (10 levels each time), and it's pretty hard for a new player to get a hold of either. Mind you that the first lock is at level 60, so you might need 40 balls in total and that's just one character. The KSR needs a higher rarity dragon ball which is even harder to get.
3.Donpachi (Clan Wars)
Probably the most enjoyable mode in this game. You get in a clan, put 5 cards as attackers, another 5 as defenders. Then you go against other clans. Meaning you need 10 cards in total.... It's a very long road. I mean you can put useless ones in the line up but you won't be able to deal any damage to an alright opposition and it'll suck all the fun out of this mode.
BUT lately they seem to be putting out a pretty good gacha for new players, like getting all SSR in 10 pull and be able to choose one ssr at lv.100 right out the bat, though there are only like 4-5 decent characters you can choose.
Now if you still want to play this game just to enjoy the cards and don't want to bother with Donpachi then okay, good for you. But if you want to participate in donpachi then, https://ryu.sega-online.jp/special/character/ranking-donpachi/ check out this link for a tier list(sort of). It's the ranking of characters most used in S-rank clans.
Anyway new players kinda rake in gacha currency (diamond) pretty easily by going through story. Spend them wisely if you want to be atleast decent in a clan war.
Ryū ga Gotoku has 7 games in the franchise. This spin-off is actually a good model for those who want to become familiar with the lore and characters. Rates at average to good. They also have free 7-day, 10× SSR Gacha pull for those crying babies who always complain about bad rates. Needs to be localized though. Highly recommended.
I am a big fan of Yakuza series, but unfortunately, can't afford a console. Welp, this game can't be compared to the original, but I still enjoy it!! All cards are animated and voiced, that's very impressive!
P.S. After the last update the card animations were almost completely removed and the battles look like we're fighting literal cardboard cuts. Maybe it's a setting that can be turned off, but haven't figured that out yet since I don't know japanese so well. Minus points for the graphics downgrade.😔👎
Surprisingly good SR and SSR drop rates, gorgeous artwork, recognizable characters, simple gameplay, and a classic, deep Yakuza storyline make for a great mobile entry into the series. Will be playing this for a long time.
so seems there is no rerolling on this game ( unless you can do it through game settings or some other complex way since clearing data brings you back to where you were prior to clearing your data) guess I can just enjoy the game and not pressure myself on reroll then either way I'm fine with it
Fantastic so far. Pulled a bunch of dupes, so rates are good, but would have been great to get a more diverse starting pool of SSRs on my account, which, as mentioned below, appears to be completely locked to your device; so no rerolling. If they released this in English I would throw money at it like it was my job.
Hint hint, Sega
I started playing Yakuza Kiwami a while ago. Though this is a spinoff game, it is very interesting to see it as a mobile game. I personally feel like I should have more control woth the characters, rather than them auto attacking at times. Yakuza is one of my favorites in the SEGA lineup.
So far, this Yakuza game is really good. I really love the art and music. the gameplay is simple and easy to get into. I'm playing this mobile game for awhile
