Gameplay. Gameplay depends heavily on rng. Unless you have maxed out high tier support cards. During taining? If you're lucky, you might get some boost on stats, increase the mood, restore some energy, or hint for a good skill and if your luck sucks, the mood might go down, some stats decreases, or even worse, a debuff. During races? Just like a real horse races, you watch your girl run and hope for the best. If you're in luck, your girl might win the race or at least meet the requirements for continuing despite having poor stats and if you're unlucky, even if your girl have good stats for that race, she might get stuck in a pack during last spur and finishing in 2nd or lower.
Characters. Every character are based on a real horse and are fully voiced with 3d model.
Story. Gotta admit I skip most of the story due to the reason I can't read japanese at all. But the anime got good story so the game's gotta be the same right?
Gacha. Gacha is divided into 2 categories which is character and support card and can be quite salty. At least they're generous enough to let you choose which character/support card you wanted after 200 pulls. The main reason for gacha is to get the character you want but, support cards also play a important role to make your horse girl stronger. So, you have to choose between waifu or progress. Also some fact, different costume for same character have the same affinity for types of races and training schedule.
Interesting game since its characters are based on real life horses.
However its gacha is very unfriendly. I can found that some f2p players achieve better achievement than me who just spend a little, monthly cards and 7500stones two times. Only heavy spending player can have better experience in this game.
If you want to start playing this Uma Musume, you have to get yourself prepared.
A pretty decent game with very high production quality, there are 2 type of gacha, one being a character gacha (which you will be able to train) and two being a support card gacha (which you will use to accompany the character you train).
For beginners, support card gacha always has higher priority than the character gacha, because support card literally all that matters in this game (you might want to roll one or two in character gacha though).
The characters are all cute, they sing, dance, and whatnot, their stories are even more *chef kiss* (like for real they based on real japanese horse racing). I can see why this game is so popular there at the moment.
There are still more improvement need to be made, but thinking about how the game just came out the other month, with Cygames handling it, I will just say the game will keep getting better and better.
Just play the game, try it yourself.
Honestly, I think the game is pretty good. It's grindy as any other gacha is, and whaling only helps so far. (rely on whales instead of whaling yourself)
Graphics are pretty nice, but some aliasing does happen on even newer more powerful mobiles (s20fe and tab s7). The pc version doesn't show it as much, but this is for the mobile version anyway.
Music is alright. Nothing too special, personally. Some of the idol songs are pretty good, but the usual soundtrack is pretty generic while also being catchy due to its repetition.
Game play, well, to me it's great. This is my first gacha game of this style (previously played arknights, epic7, girls frontline) and I like it. Gives you a feeling that you're making steady progress as you improve.
The stories are all pretty darn good, even if it takes me a couple hours to read any of them as I slowly translate words and figure sentences out (barely scratching N4 levels myself, so I've got a long way to go)
They all have their emotion and fun, and are all pretty well written. Characters are all very strong in their personalities.
The gacha, aka, the value, is, well, different.
I normally don't like games with multiple things in gacha (like genshin...) so I personally like having the choice between more Uma or more cards. Honestly, I played the game the "wrong way" for a good while, so I have a few 4 star girls and a 5 star Rice shower, but my support decks are pretty subpar.
All in all, it's a fun game with cute girls who race and talk to you about things with some well choreographed idol songs.
Not perfect, but is any game really ever perfect?
Give it a try, especially if you can read at least at N4 decently well.
okay.
first of all.
i love anime uma musume, it start from a meme and become a loveable one.
This game is really have a casual and chill concept and gameplay.
im surely not recommend play this game blind especially if you cant read Ancient Language[Jp] , so searching how to train your "horses" in Reddit is make you enjoy the game more imho.
because if you going blind, there mostlikely to feel bad keep losing and depending on "last spurt" ability to win.
For F2P, there a horse ticket you can choose, a certain free horses is really really good, and make you to enjoy the game and train process not only for Gacha.
i can see this game to be get better in the future and cant wait for the Eng/Global server.
Waifu? best horse? well ofcourse Seiun Sky.
cant wait for her to be playable and not only skillcard! !
Overall rate 9/10
bias rate 9.5/10
Seiun Sky rate 10/10
Hope you enjoy the game as much as i do!!!
Welcome to the first ever gacha game that's actually making you insane and addictive. A game that is total luck based, fully random number generator. A game for gamblers and Horse fans out there. (mainly Japanese Horses) Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.
This game is actually pretty good by most of the gacha games that I actually played and DAMN when I say it's insane it's literally insane.
The game overall tells you as the Trainer of Tracen Academy where an academy fulls of teenager girls horse high school and your main intention is to make her the best runner in Japan and win the URA Finale so she can perform center in a concert. However in Japanese version there's tons more of creative scenario while still related to the main story gameplay. Simplify the context; Make your Uma become the best runner and idol.
Now let's talk about the game. This reviews fully on this version aka Japanese version.
Graphics: 4.7/5
This game has seriously better graphics than any other gachas game that I played so far. Beautiful models uses for the Uma's as they uses 3D Model. Guess they are really flexing the budget I can say. Vibrant Colours and Lighting mainly for the concert. Overall for a gacha game this is Top Notch.
Sound: 5/5
OH MY GOD THE SOUNDS, Since it is also an idol game they have been some original songs and background music. Overall they're very catchy and addicting. This game apparently has mixed a lots of genres as in J-POP and J-ROCK. winning the soul and Umapyoi Densetsu is one of great the example.
Gameplay: 4/5
Not really a fan for it's mechanics. Since it's really close to Idolmaster but you need to train her to be a runner. The game also uses Random Number Generator as in you can still lose even if you're the best one on the track. So to prevent it happening you need skills to make the chances lower. The Rating Scenario is great feature to make sure you creating the best Umamusume while getting rewards when you finish the scenario. Even this game has PVP mechanics such as Champion's Meeting. So this game has a mix of chill and sweaty.
Storyline: 5/5
This game storyline is based on real life horses in Japan while adding a bit of Yuri-bait. It's actually pretty good storyline if you love the horses and you can literally experience her running in her desire track. The main story is totally original and yes there's also tragedy and real life relatable cliché. I love Daiwa Scarlet.
Overall:4.8/5
Fun game with good graphics and storyline. It can be pretty sweaty game since it has PVP. Yuri-bait expected since it's a full girls game. Literally Free to Play friendly because of the rerolling system is very easy and Cygames loves to give people presents. You can understand this game very well if you understand Japanese, oh boy language barrier haha. The game requires VPN because it's region blocked with other versions unlike Global version. The Gacha rates are pretty good and their pity system is okay but not the best.
Daiwa Scarlet is the best tsundere.
That's all from me! Have fun playing !
For those who are a fan of the anime should really enjoy this game, as there's alot of attention given to each characters, from their looks down to their personalities. As a game, it delivers as a simulation working to raise your uma musube to be no. 1 in derby racing, and start in the concerts that take place after winning certain races, such as the Make Debut. There is a lot of dialogue, and certain choices that can affect your characters' growth. There is also an independent story mode, team racing, and other features based on events.
There are 2 types of ways to approach the gacha system here. One ways is to draw from the in-game jewel ones, where you can get characters (including rotating special themed ones) or cards to help boost stats. The other is paid jewels, which allow you to draw from exclusive gachas to get high-rating characters and cards. Heavily over-priced imho. Only recommended for those who can afford it (ie. whales).
As a Japanese-only game, being fluent in the language is highly recommended. I am fluent in Japanese myself, so no issues here. There are probably methods to help translate the text to make navigation easier. Again, this is a solid game if you like simulation-type games, and don't mind reading a great amount of text to drive the story forward.
Well, I just lost a boatload of money I had invested in the game because from one day to the other, the game became "unavailable" in my country.
This means Google Play shuts down the game with a region lock warning whenever I try to start it.
WHY it let me play and invest money for one week prior to blocking me I don't know.
So, only play it with VPN or JP account, I guess. Try your luck.
I find the concept of this game to be very interesting, a first of its kind that I've been exposed to thus far. Despite being unable to read and understand the goings on during gameplay and the like I find myself at a disadvantage, however, this serves as no deterrent to mine having fun. That being said my fun was cut short not long after it started.
The one issue i have with this game is as follows: From the giftbox I claimed the 3☆ ticket to summon our Aristocratic horsey and in doing so I sealed my fate, for after the summons was over the summoning section was permanently disabled. -What do I mean by this? Ever since i used that ticket I've been unable to summon thereafter with every attempt causing the app to force-close when i tap the summoning section. Updates have come and gone but this one issue remains unresolved, a fact that truely saddens me. I'm sure were it another disgruntled player perhaps a 1☆ review would have been left. But, because of the hours I've wasted, HYPED AF with my races , enjoying every moment of my blind adventure all the while having fun...this game has won my favor & i would have rated it a 5 of 5 but until this issue is fix I'll be forced to take an indefinite break. I hope this issue gets resolved quickly.
I still have this game and I play it time to time. Time to time.
Uma Musume is a horse girls breeding game (in a way to make strongest horse girls) fused with idol image and their concerts when they win their races, which idol is what Japan wants these days. Thus, super popular.
The gameplay is about breeding the best horse girls and to achieve that, you breed one horse girl with another one to create a descendant horse girl. Play through three years of their school time and train them along with your support cards to help the girl you're training even stronger. Once you passed three years and won the final race, you have your final result and use her for breed or races. It's a heavy time and money investment replayability. When I say time investment, the game has lots of RNG in your choices, so it felt like you're trying hard to train your horse girl to the best, which is what Cygames want.
I said money investment, right? Yeah, the game needs lots of money investment to get those support SSRs to improve your horse girls by lots. It's definitely not F2P friendly, you gotta pay lots to win. But not to worry, it's raking lots of money even now.
If you're one of the heavy idol culture fan, this is for you. Your money ready?
Not me, no way!
