I just downloaded and tried to play it, but for some reason it seems laggy from the start page to the game page. I want to play the song, but because it's so laggy I can't tap the notes T_T

“I don't want to play with project sekai anymore” This is a good game, a great new release for the gacha rhythm market. The graphics are a solid 10/10 - the cards (both “actors” and “posters”) are, objectively speaking, beautiful and bloomed illustrations are animated. The 3D models are well-made and don't look uncanny despite the blank stares, with nice outfits and detailed stage effects to match. Live2D models are modern and smooth. The music is great. Nothing outstanding about the covers, but the original songs are catchy. Some characters' voices sound very amateurish, but that's not a death sentence. Planetarium Revue sounds like a song by fine from Enstars at the beginning. The gameplay is very visibly inspired (if you could even call it that) by project sekai, with the same lane design, changing note sizes, note tap effects and even skill activation UI. It is, however, different in that hold notes, instead of sliding left or right, move via flicks in the middle of them. Each song also has several parts where note sizes are fixed to a number of even lanes (every note takes up exactly a third/fourth/fifth of the screen instead of being random). These are relatively novel concepts and i'm glad this game has something special to it. (!!!!!EDIT!!!!!: The paragraph below no longer applies as it has been patched. To greatly reduce lag you can click the cogwheel in the game start menu and select “OpenGL”. I'm still keeping it in to preserve history of the game's state at launch) All the above points are, however, negated by the horrendous lack of optimization, making the game almost unplayable with lag every time a purple note comes up because its lane effect is too much for the game to handle, and after playing a single song on the most minimalist of settings possible you might as well go fry an egg on your phone. If you have a new high-end phone, you might get away with simply disabling 3D, but i nearly burnt my finger trying to unlock a Stella chart (equivalent to proseka's requirement to clear an expert chart with few goods or worse before accessing a master) The teambuilding aspect is surprisingly complex, with needing to take as much as card colour and position in the team to properly activate Sense and Star Acts, respectively. The UI is easy enough to navigate, with the slightly outdated but practical “bottom of the screen” menu. Something incredibly sweet about the home page is that you can click on the girls in the lobby to select the tab where they appear (e.g. pressing Koyomi will direct you to the Story tab). Not rating the storyline because i have not and am not planning to try to translate the game or watch the anime. I can note, though, that it was a galaxy brain decision to name one of the units “Eden”. The value is difficult to rate for a game taking its first steps. The prices in the shop don't arise any suspicions from me, but i'm not knowledgeable at all on the matter. There's a log-in pass for only 480 yen, but it barely gives you enough for a 10-pull. The gacha rates for the actors (the cards you use in your actual lineup) are a standard of 82% for the 2★, 15% for the 3★ and 3% for the 4★, while the rates for the posters (support cards that also give costumes, as far as i can tell) are 80% for R, 16% for SR and 3% for SSR. Both have sparks at 200 pulls. Logging in on release gives you enough to make 30 pulls. Completing a song on any difficulty gives you 30 Geki jewels and getting rank A on extra gives you another 30. There seem to be a few missions that give the geki jewels, but they're one-time and i failed to find any dailies, which i suppose will be added later. Visible free geki jewel income doesn't seem extremely bright, but maybe i'm just not looking where i should or most of them are going to come from events. What i am certain about is that i am not particularly drowning in dia at the moment, though. Speaking of freebies, there's an ongoing mission to get a free Kokona actor 4★ by doing absolutely nothing (read a single main story episode, clear two game modes once, spend stamina, etc) and another one to get an SSR poster of each group by doing way too much (read their main story, which is modeled after banseka's unit splitting and 20 episode format, get the total level of all cards of the members to 1000, get a full combo which [was] completely impossible at the moment, etc). This is probably just the honeymoon phase, but i still consider it generous because the cards look pretty. TL;DR: Game good but so very laggy (not anymore!)

My probably harsh review about World Dai Star (WDS). --------------------------------------- + Beautiful card, poster (equip), and character designs. + Full of great and likeable songs [開心] + Rating system based on accuracy and chart level. ± Lesbo characters. BUT : - Very unoptimized. Lag, bug, and crash are like a normal feature in WDS. (Even, i encountered a hilarious bug like my library music is not disappeared while i played the chart) - 3D everywhere, when 3D itself is not good enough imo. - Very confusing. From team formations, skills, stamina consumption with big number, etc. - Gameplay mechanics are basically just a copypaste from other gacha rhythm games and nothing new. For example, big notes mechanic from Proseka, slide and flick mechanic from Im@s Deresute, also straight flick mechanic from D4DJ's stretch cmiiw. - Ugly chart design. It's all about slide and flick that are difficult to see and act like a combo breaker. Even some devices get lagging from lots of flick in screen. - Obviously trying to be a hardest gacha rhythm game, because of olivier difficulty, a hidden difficulty where 3 or more fingers are needed to clear the chart. And, why they make it hidden, if that difficulty is playable in multiplayer mode, seriously!? [為什麼] - Doesn't have much players in game, also multiplayer filled with 900+ rating gorillas (a JP term for pro rhythm player) or dedicated players. - Multiplayer mode feels like solo mode with other peoples, no something like fever mode iirc. Even, other players' results can't be checked if they leave the room quickly. - Profile stats are mostly hidden. So, no flex and stalk achievements. - This is just my opinion, i got dead game vibe from WDS and it reminds me of Touhou Danmaku Kagura. Most likely it will have their EoS sooner or later. Tho, I don't care much with WDS, so i only have 864 rating there and quit asap. (*cough* no one asking [白眼]) --------------------------------------- TL;DR WDS is a rhythm game with beautiful arts and great songs. But, the quality of the game itself is meh. Not recommended.

ive seen a lot of people say that this game will replace pj sekai or end pj sekai's career. but thats just not true, for starters pj sekai and World dai star have very different target audiences even tho they are the same genre of game pj sekai is primarily for vocaloid fans who like vocaloid and the songs, and when they play the game they also started liking the original characters and their stories too World Dai Star has more original songs than covers, and its certantly not targeting vocaloid fans second point: Their graphics, art and gacha "style" are very different, if you prefer pj sekai art and gacha you probably wont like World Dai Star's gacha and art, since its much more 2010's anime, while Pj sekai is more modern in terms of stylistic choices and have very different cards quality like, compared to WDS third point: Wolrd Dai star is just starting, it doesnt have a lot of songs, cards, or story. the game would only get close to pj sekai's level of design, art, gameplay, and overall playability in the future, and it probably wont when i comes to rythmn games it for sure will NOT be replacing Pj Sekai or even Bandori, they are the modern top tier mobile free rhythm games

It's not a bad game actually. The gameplay is so similar to other idol rhythm games. It's also so plain. Personally i love the covers and songs, it doesn't sounds bad. The game is still super laggy even if you do fps 120 or do other things. That makes gameplay super bad. About the story, i have no idea I'm sorry i don't understand Japanese. Also if you're a folk like me -with no Japanese- the game can be a little bit confusing. I mean if you have an experience with idol rhythm games I'm sure you can understand but yeah it's still a little bit confusing. The other thing that i don't like is THE DAMN UPDATES, i don't know if those updates for first anniversary or something but THERE'S A LOT, like man... Every single day I'm updating the damn game. Anyways shortly the game is not that bad, you it will worth to give it a try :)

I'm a day 1 player, I was super hype for this game since my favorite artist worked on it ( ^ω^ ) The songs are all really good! It's exciting cuz you don't really see unique songs anymore since a lot of things have been done already, but especially the 1st unit songs are all easy to have stuck in your head!! The main mechanic of the game is a little confusing, but once you learn how it works it's easy to score high even with low rarity cards! I think the only thing that isn't communicated well is that your player level is locked behind your progression on auditions! You have to score 2☆ on each song to get a single level's worth of increase to your max, which is really weird. But it makes sense since card levels are tied to player level. It's not really hard to score high either, I just wish it was communicated to the player better. I was stuck at level 50 for months because I hated playing auditions lol This game is an easy top tier because Iroha is in it ( ´∀`)

Everyone seems to have issues with laggyness. Quick tip on how I fixed mine: Go to settings- performance settings. and it should have some Japanese characters that say MV next to them. It should also say ON/OFF. Turn the mv off and it was fixed. (Sorry if this wasn't helpful)

Day 1 player here(writing this review cause i just remember i haven't wrote one and today is 300 days release celebration), I initially only wanna check this game out, play a little and quit after i pour everything into my firsts event tiering(i got t200). But ended up staying cause i got mesmerized by the complicated yet fun team building system i dont see in any rhythm games. While you need to have some degree of understanding of Japanese to fully utilize them, with the help of fan translation and guide im sure you can enjoy it as if its in your own language (lmk if you wanna join the discord fan server). The only downside is that its not really f2p friendly, but i feel like not getting anything you want could be another fun (grinding) experience. As long as you are not aiming the top, you should be able to enjoy it even with limited resources. As for rhythm aspect, its fantastic! Kinda similar to pjsk with some its exclusive gimmicks. Songs are great too! Initially, the game was famous"multi fingers(2k above) play mode(aka Olivier), it was even before append mode made appearance in pjsk. Personally, i didnt care about it too much at first, since im a thumbs player main. No way this is suitable for my playstyle. But after im done with stella difficult, i tried some of olivier difficulty, pigue my interest, albeit i was horrible at it. But i discover its quite fun making use of multi fingers, the game is quite generous that it has some low difficult oli that you can practice, perfect for multi fing playstyle beginner like myself. Over time i did improve for aabit and fc alot of songs. Btw, i read some old comment criticizing how laggy the gameplay is, those are OUTDATED info. It was indeed unstable when it got released, but they already made an effort to fix it. You should have any of these problems. If you still do try to play it on lowesr setting (ie. low fp2, no tap effects, lower resolution), if you still do get lags either you didnt optimize your settings or your phone is just not capable of playing this game. Not the game's problem. For story aspect, i cant comment too much on it, cause i haven't done them properly, but from what ive heard and personally skim through them. They are pretty decent. If you are a fan of the anime series (yes they have an anime) you will surely like it! In conclusion, its fun rhythm game and the first one that actually immerse myself in it. Ive played alot of rhythm games, but none of it come close to make me this engaging. Maybe pjsk would my top pick, but im getting burnout recently. Most of the game only keep you engage in the gameplay but tiering only(aside from rhythm aspect ofc) including pjsk. Anyway i highly recommend you can check it out yourself instead of reading those review, they also have some anime collab from time to time too, so they have some interesting song collection. If this interest you go download now!

My honest opinion about World Dai Star: I love this game. The variety of songs is great and a huge nostalgia throwback for me. I'm not proficient enough in Japanese to read the story which is why I didnt rate it but I am sure that the story is good too 😭 My biggest takeaway is probably about the rhythm game part itself. Not the way the charts are designed but more of the configuration piece. As someone who plays pjsekai and bandori, being able to turn down the background brightness is huge for a rhythm game. There as some times while playing this game where I couldn't see the notes because of the extra graphic and i have found no way to either turn down the brightness or turn them off completely. I have found several easter eggs in songs with these graphics but they're extremely distracting and they hide the notes. Speed is another thing I want to mention. It seems that no matter what speed I play at, the movement of the notes in the beginning stay the same. I currently play at a speed of 15 and the notes arent falling fast enough for me to be tapping them at a speed of 15. For example when the notes fall it starts slow then speeds up before you tap it. Other notes I have is about the character's and their ages. Some of them seem a bit... young?? An idol at the age of 11? I'm not sure if its a Japan thing or if people do become idols at this young of an age. It feels weird seeing an 11 y/o in an idol group with 14/15 y/o's. Also not only to mention that about half of the girls are 16-18 so seeing someone so young makes you wonder a bit. (good lord do i not want to attempt to try and look for fan art of these characters... I'm terrified....) Overall, a really great game. Praying for an English version and I hope other people can enjoy this game as well. I first found out about this game from watching someone play on TikTok and then I thought to myself "oh lemme try this game". Scale of recommendation from 1-5 i would say a 4.
