this is going to be long so please bear with me.
first thing first I need to remind everyone that this is NOT an otome game! this game doesn't have any romance it in except for a few flirty lines here and there, but you can interpret it however you like! just please don't assume that it's an otome game.
also as one of the comments here already said, twst has some dark topics such as; bullying, kidnapping, family issues, and even attempted murder. so please be wise when you play it!
last but not least, the mc (yuu) is canonically gender neutral so you guys can imagine your mc however you like! please don't say that the mc is canonically a girl or a boy. you can make yuu whatever you want to!
now let's start with starting character. when you first play the game, you'll get to choose between 7 dorms and 22 students. you'll get SR ceremonial robes of the chosen character and he'll be set as your homescreen character. but dont worry, you can change it whenever you like!
next is the summon/gacha. you'll get your first free ten pull before prologue 8. you will obtain 1 (dorm uniform) SSR, 2 SR, and 7 R. the best part about this first summon/gacha is that you can reroll as many as you want! but even though there are 22 main characters and currently 18 dorm SSR, you can only get 1/8 SSR. 5 from heartslabyul and 3 from savanaclaw. so keep rerolling untill you get the cards you want!♡
there are 3 gacha currency in twst. free gems, paid gems, and magical keys. you'll need 3000 gems or 10 keys for a ten pull summon. you can gather free gems from logins, missions, stories, and events. and you'll get 10 magical keys every characters' birthdays! (you can check their birthdays on the official website! I'll link it below)
oh and you'll get a guaranteed SSR on your 100th pull.
next is the gameplay. there are 4 main gameplay in twst. battle, rhythm, test, and lessons.
first, battle : in battle, you'll use 4 cards of yours and 1 card of another player's. there are 4 attributes, fire, tree, water, and null. every cards have 2 attributes. it can either be different or the same. fire beats tree, tree beats water, and water beats fire. null is neutral/no elements. so for example, if the enemy has fire attributes, I suggest you use cards with water attributes to easily beat them.
next is rhythm : well I don't think I have to explain this, but the rhythms are fairly easy. and you can do it whenever you like! it doesn't use stamina or something to play it.
then the test : it's hard to explain this so I'm sorry if I don't make sense. so after you finished main story episode 1, you'll unlock test. test is actually like battle; well, it is battle actually. you can test your cards power in battle by doing tests.
and most importantly, lessons : there are 3 types of lessons; history, flying, and alchemy.
> in history lesson, you can level up your cards to increase their hp and atk! you can gain exp by doing history lesson or using nectars that you obtained from the lesson.
> in flying lesson, you can level up your cards episode level to unlock their personal stories! it is also one of the requirements to groovy the cards. you can gain ep exp by doing flying lesson or using snacks that you obtained from the lesson.
> and finally, alchemy lesson. in alchemy lesson, you can get items to increase your cards magic level! and you can also increase their buddy level.

(I left this review at another app but I want to share this here too!)
Super great game!!!
At first I didn't understand the hype... Like, very silly concept and otome game, cool. But its far from that and playing this really blew my mind
Otome game? naw, the characters barely have romantic interaction with MC and the story isnt focused on the cast tryna woo MC. Very refreshing story and take on this concept!!! I love it!! The writing is so good I live for how each main cast member is so well written
The main story is super great too, also far from what I expected. I ordered shipping material nd got... Madoka Magica..???(kinda spoilers whoops) WHICH IS EVEN BETTER. Although I do believe there could be better execution for some of the books (ehem ehem book 7. Almost everything in book 7 is so silly and ridiculous but i cant even be mad because i still loved it💔) they are genuinely BRILLIANT
Also gameplay wise, although some arent a big fan of the very casual gameplay, i highly appreciate it. Its not grind heavy and if you completed everything theres really not much to do... Its more focus on story than anything. If ure a busy person who doesnt have time for much grinding or prefers casual gameplay this is perfect!! Also the grinding in this game is extremely slow paced (ehem lessons esp if you dont got lesson tickets) so its great to do while ure very very busy and doing tasks
Overall im just so attached to this game ok..? oki bye stan Neige LeBlanche
I love Malleus because he is such a beautifully written character—one who feels ancient and wise, yet still vulnerable and yearning in a way that’s deeply human. Despite being one of the most powerful beings in Twisted Wonderland, he never uses his strength to belittle others; instead, he carries his power with humility and calm confidence. There’s a quiet sadness to him, like he’s spent centuries watching the world change around him, growing used to isolation but still secretly hoping to be included, to be seen not just as the "feared prince" but as someone who just wants to share in the joy of everyday life. His fascination with the ordinary—like his childlike wonder at modern technology or simple social traditions—makes him even more endearing. It’s easy to forget that someone so powerful could feel so left out, and that contrast is what makes his story so touching. Malleus's deep voice, poetic way of speaking, and composed mannerisms create an almost timeless aura around him, like a figure from a fairytale—one you wish you could step into and talk to, comfort, and understand. His relationship with the other characters, especially those few he lets into his heart, shows how much he values connection over status or power. He’s the kind of character who leaves a lasting impact, not just because he’s strong or aesthetically striking, but because he’s tender, sincere, and profoundly relatable in his loneliness and desire to be loved. Loving Malleus feels like loving a legend—a dragon prince with a gentle soul who just wants to belong. I love Malleus because he embodies a perfect balance of mystery, strength, and depth that makes him incredibly captivating. There's something profoundly alluring about his quiet, regal demeanor—how he carries himself with grace and power, yet remains gentle and respectful to those he cares about. His design is visually stunning, with his horns and elegant style giving him a majestic, otherworldly presence that stands out effortlessly. But beyond appearances, what truly makes Malleus special is his emotional complexity; he’s not just the powerful fae prince feared by many—he’s also lonely, thoughtful, and longing for connection.
Everything about this game was Beauté,100. From Graphics, Sound, gameplay was so simple and events doesn't requires too much effort ( which sounds fine to me ) stories are also interesting, and so's the characters.
Save your gems for your best boys!
I can't wait for pomefiore trio to be released
I love you Epel with all my heart, this country boy who wanna be as buff as savana claw boys and grew a beard on his face.
I'm willing to forfeit all of my mortal possessions for you.
Stan Epel for unlimited stack of apples 🍎🍎🍎
edit : i forgot to mention for new players of this game. Start strengthening your cards especially for overblot battles. it will get harder and harder as you progress into the story ( i swear, as a newbie player back then, it took me forever to defeat overblot battles with weak cards on hand.)
So, I played this game for a while now and I really love it!... But the problem is how laggy and freeze it that I have to delete and I lost my account which I need to create a new one (I just started the game so I dont know where to link) Honestly, If the game wasnt so buggy and laggy I shouldnt have deleted it and my storage is perfectly fine for it to run smoothly but no it didnt.
It's painful to start again but I did and boy it froze on the loading screen again! The gameplay, storyline, battle and everything is perfect except for this so I do hope you fix this so other people that would encounter it wouldnt have to uninstall the game:)
P.S even if I did made a link account it would be buggy again and I have to uninstall and donwload the resources which takes for quite some time.
honestly in my opinion its nice and simple. i like the story. the characters and overall everything is nice. it does lag sometimes but after i clear the cache, it goes back to normal. +lil edit: i forgot to mention that the game needs 2GB to download.. hahha..
Gems and rewards:
pretty nice. a lot of the mission gives you gems, so i like that. and the rewards are okay too. the login bonuses are fair enough, i guess. You can also gain gems by doing twistunes, reading vignettes, and doing lessons (theres that lesson task thing for each character) overall, theyre pretty yk, not stingy when it comes to gems. hehe :D
Gameplay:
so theres uhm i think 4 ways to play this game. theres the story gameplay or wjatever you call it, the lessons, the battles, and twistunes. they're fun. super simple. and i like it. i prefer simple games that don't do much action and yk pressure to win, so yeah i basically like the battles and the games too. the lessons are on auto, and i personally like that, considering youd need to do a lot of lessons to reach max rank (rank 50) and since its on auto, theres not much stuff to do so you can just relax and not do some super hard stuff. i still dont rlly get the twistunes, but im getting better at em. the plotline is nice and funny too at some times. although what the characters say are a bit too idk, yassified(?) its honestly funny imo. and yeah the characters friendships are nice too. i like them.
characters and building characters:
the characters are mwah. i love every single one of them. the art is also super nice. love it. to uhm build your characters, there's a variety of stuff you can do. Groovifying is getting your HP higher and it does upgrade your POW but not as much as HP. but you do get a new illustration of the character you groovied to groovify a card, you have to reach a certain level for your card, reach max vignette level and read a story first, then you van groovify. you also need a character candy which you can get in alchemy lessons. vignette levels raise by doing flight lessons. card levels raise by doing histroy lessons. you can go raise and max your level too. maxing your level doesnt do much to your character tho, it raises HP more than POW and I am quite stingy about it, but thats fine. and then we have leveling up spells, which are like the Attack (???) raising the spell level to a certain level changes the effects to be stronger and i also think that it raises your POW value soo :DDD
gacha and cards:
the gacha is a bit stingy. 300 gems for a ten pull that has a guaranteed 1(+) ssr or sr card in it. and ssr cards are only 1.5% so yeahhh.. usually you get a few sr cards in a 10 pull so that's that. kinda sucks, but its alr edit; i kinda jusy found out ahout tis sround a month ago but anyways, if you sanna save gems, you can go to the ajop and biy this uhm Ten-set Keyfold Bundle for 250 gems. you can jse the ten set keyfold to do a ten pull, and uiu get extra starshards so yaaaay. its not much, but by doing this you save 50 gems so yeyeye. its only a one tjme purchase until the nect time they restock, so jd recomment using wisely
well yk im getting pretty lazy and i think that was all there was to review soo that's gonna be it. im sorry if it sounds vague, im not that good at writing reviews overall id rate this game 4.8 also sorry for typoooos
I didn't even know that the English version has been released this year, but I am glad I caught up just before Book 3 was released because I stopped playing the Japanese version at Book 2 because my Japanese sucks and I need a lot of time to read the story 😂
I see no improvement in the Twistunes mechanics, still find it hard sometimes to get it right especially in Hard modes even after trying to tune it. I must say now that I have the time, the graphics, voices, and sounds are even more fantastic than I remember. The translations, however, sometimes feel a bit off even though it's on point.
I do enjoy that playing the story feels almost like anime, crossroad between visual novel and anime. I love that despite of the obvious marketing target, the story is so unlike otoge. Right from the start, I love it. I am still waiting for the big plot reveal. It's been building up since the introduction and I am excited now than ever. I just hope I won't be stuck because of gacha.
I hate gacha so much, but whatever, here take my soul, I guess. 😂
I think the only thing that lets this game down is the sometimes terribly poor translation (yes I know they cannot do a direct translation from japanese to english, that is not what I what I expected). Minor errors I could forgive but when you turn a character into the embodiment of how do you do fellow kids/walking internet lingo 101 (Cater Diamond.) Is when the overall quality drops sharply. I also have issues with Idia and Floyd as their dialogue is also messed with, you can easily hear them say one thing and in text it comes off entirely different.
Now the thing that lets this game down most is that it no longer works on emulators leaving a lot of us unable to play. I had months of fun even with my dislike of some the characters localisation but the update a few months ago killed my ability to play this game because I'm not in america.
i really like this game, at first i thought it was gonna be a dating sim/otome game. But it wasn't and i enjoyed it even despite that. First of all as u can see i gave the gameplay 3 compared to the other things, because i just think there's not that much gameplay and that its more of a story based game.
Now twisted wonderland is interesting cuz its both a turn based battle game AND a rhythm game which imo is really cool, its like a combination of many things.
And the fact that this is a Disney Anime Game is just mind blowing to me, the story and plot were really unique to me and i immediately got hooked into the story, but i will say it does get repetitive with the overblots and you being the one that always does all the hard work, while that annoying bird who's literally the principal of this damn school does NOTHING. . . Anyway it is kinda repetitive in the sense that you pretty much know early on that "Oh so were gonna go through all the houswarden overblots" you're already expecting it to happen in every book. But despite it being repetitive it is INTRESTING, in every book you learn bit by bit more about all the characters and even become best friends with some who you at first did not get along with. Every book has a different story (btw Ace and Deuce r such real ones i love those dumbasses 😔)
One complaint that i have is... the lessons, you need to do them to level/train up ur cards, i wish they made it more interesting and idk interactive?? cuz the only thing u have to do is put it on Auto Play and not do anything and just wait till the lessons r over to level up ur cards. Which is really boring but other than that everything is great.
The character designs are AMAZING, each of their personalities are unique..
ok i've realised how much im yapping so ill just leave it here 💀
overall I RECOMMEND.
