[[OBT]]
Q :What kind of game is this
A :Unit deploy straight lane tower defense RPG (like line rangers, stick war, etc but personally i think this is better with an actual big brain needed) with some azur lane field-like stage type where you move your carriage to start a battle (Pve only and very mportant)
Q :How is the ui
A :It is becoming pretty good, i can see the potential of it by now
Q : How is the voice acting
A : I dont speak korean, but the VAs are amazing in my opinion, pretty much natural. I'd love to hear more!
Q : How is the graphic
A : One of the best out there (The overall design(?) are very close to closers)
Q : How is the gacha rate
A : 0/30 x 10 reroll for the first time recruitment, with 1 SSR unit each reroll . The gacha ratrs arent that bad (around 2%)
Q : Do you need duplicate character to make your unit stronger "Spesifically" ?
A : Specific, no. But you can also ascend a units with dupes. Also, you can deploy dupes on another team
Q : How is the overall sound
A : Nice, give applause to the bgm team 👏👏 (not sarcastic)
Q : How is the currency
A : The "gems" currency not only used as gacha, still can't say about the currency. There is a value which can be gotten only by paid with real money, used for buying some skins, in game currency, and gems
Overall i will give it 8/10 , worth to play
Also , for units there are :
-Tiddies
-Petites
-Lolis
-Armies
-Tanks
-Helicopters
-Drones
-Males
-Shotas
-Daddies
-Stronghold hyung-nim
Counter:Side is really what you get when you combine a bunch of features from other gacha games, then (instead of copying fully) improve them really well.
That said, this game shares a number of aspects with many good PvP and PvE games like Girls' Frontline, Azur Lane, Epic Seven, and Arknights among many more. So it might feel quite daunting to adjust to for the people new to the gacha game genre. However, it doesn't mean you won't enjoy it.
The game has full repeat auto, and battle skip. Heck it knows that people normally leave their phones alone during full auto so they added a powersaver feature while doing your auto. The game relies on good team building, but unlike stingy games, if you start now, they actually give you so many chances to make your dream team. They even give out SSR SELECTION Tickets which is basically just handing out the SSR at this point.
Monetization-wise, you can think of this as epic seven. Very playable as an f2p, but has quite the amount of stuff you can spend on. High rank PvP is of course pay to win, like any gacha game. However, if you simply want to get PvP currency, getting in high rank does not matter as much (since you can go purely Strategic PvP where you can select easy to beat enemies). High rank pvp is more of a flex (but a very fun one at that) than having any gamechanging rewards, thankfully.
Storywise, I think it's pretty interesting, under the apocalypse-esque setting. It's a take on how soldiers are disposable and how all these things happening are simply, "business".
A lot of characters in the game are in Live2D (L2D) (yes, even the store AIs). Notice how in some games, you can put 1 unit on your homescreen? This game allows 5 and they can all be in L2D.
For the veterans of gacha gaming, this one is pretty deceptively good. This would normally miss many people's radars (because for some reason KR games aren't as famous as JP games) but if you do stumble across it (which is likely why you're reading this review), I think you'll have a bit of fun just like I do.
I highly suggest you to at least try this game out. This gem deserves at least that.
This game is well worth the wait. The story is what surprised me, I thought it was going to be like arknights (sorry, I don't really like the story of arknights) but this one is far more better. At first, it's like Madoka Magica mix with Closers because of the vibe, then it's like arknights, then it gets better at act 2. The lack of male characters is visible, but the ones in the story are awesome (Codename: Smart Guy is one awesome dude). Last time I was so into a game for the story is Magia Record...yes, for me Magia Record has better story than the likes of Genshin, E7, and Kings Raid. Ok, that's the story, now let's talk about the positive and negative.
Positive:
+ Story, obviously...
+ Gameplay is like Battle Cats and Cartoon Wars (Gamevil), but with more room for strategizing...so more complex
+ Amazing 2D arts, equipped with live2d lobby which is always a plus
+ Lot's of content and lores to explore
+ Not too P2W since in order to limit break characters you don't necessarily need a duplicate. You can use farmable universal frags
+ Amazing soundtrack
+ Stamina is not a problem at the moment
+ Able to resume battle if your game crashed/disconnected
+ Packs are reasonable and worth it if you plan on spending it. Like King's Raid and Epic Seven
Neutral:
#Decent gacha rate, system is like Epic Seven so single draws are like 10 draws (no bonus like most gacha)
#Gold can be a problem...you played Epic Seven? It's more or less the same here...
#Gear can be a deciding factor in pvp, farming it is difficult...like Epic Seven...did they research Epic Seven?
Negative:
- John Mason aka Smart Guy is not playable...yet... probably
- ...Huh, I can't think of anything that will deter myself from playing...oh, the initial loading time is somewhat long, but that's it, once you're in the game it's very smooth
- ... hmmm hold on...gold...gems...well gems is somewhat hard...no actually not...well I can't think of anything else. There has to be other negative, please check what others think about this game
Overall, it's a very good Sub-Main Game (well Main Game if you're not playing heavy games like Genshin, Guardian Tales and Langrisser M) that's well worth your time and probably investment. Zlonggames are rather safe since Langrisser M is still up and running. So have fun~
You know, I hope they collab with Closers... I'd be really happy if Seulbi Lee is playable here~

This is an updated review as of 07 March 2023.
As conflicted and sad I feel about making this sudden decision, I have ended up with the conclusion to stop playing and delete the game for good.
I always spoke highly about this game, especially regarding its story and art. The strategic planning it takes create the perfect team for different content was a blast, and the main and event stories were captivating in their own right were one of the outstanding features of this game.
Just recently Counterside has transformed to Counterside origins, and just like all other servers, SEA followed shortly after. The initial change was HORRIBLE, and even after a few alterations of that, the game for some reason lost its charm. Even with rewards being spoon fed to players, I really didn't see it a reason to stick around any longer. I believe isn't bad at all in its current state, but the execution and action implemented were very messy and surprising, to say the least.
I get that the developers may have future plans that need to be pursued by the company, so whatever they did to counterside did lead to some major changes. The results? In the short run, really disappointing. In the long run? Only time will tell.
I do wish all the best for players who continue to love and play the game. With how life is, the pacing of the game is just going to slow me down. The old version was the perfect blend and the interface was just very simple yet perfectly placed imo.
Anyhow, after 400+ hours of playing counterside (according to my phone)... This is goodbye. 👋
This is an outdated review.
honestly it's been 2 months since i've played the SEA, and coming in not knowing anything i thought this game was pretty good, of course that later changed because of the introdouction of Awk.Units. as of now You can still beat them with the right combination, but later on it'l be almost impossible. is this game F2P? not really, if you're lucky and get an awk in the first 70 pull, then probably for you it is f2p. but if you're like me who's on 80/150 in pity and only got 2 ssr's, then No.
you won't survive in PVP without awk units. do reccomend the KR since in terms of rewards they're much more generous.
Counter: side is a brilliant game which has a lot of potential as a gatcha game but has a massive downside and that is the p2w and whaling balance in the game for example PvP and real time pvp is so broken you might as well not play as there is so many p2w players it's crazy and not to mention the updates for new banners every week is overwhelming as f2p players don't have time to save up for each banner and let's talk about the latest bingo scam event which not only it's a grind fest it also has Misson requirements to complete such as summoning 50 times and spend over 100k of the purple currency and other stuff which the end result of all your hard work is 1 copy of a SSR character in which btw is only 3 star you will need many dupes to unlock that characters abilities it's just terrible overall and one more thing the company dose not listen to the SEA.COMMUNITY about problems with the game either because I have seen multiple comments about some of the issues I have noted but I am not surprised as the IP is owned by GREEDY NEXON.
A really solid game, with very good production values. Very nice atmosphere, story and character design. Nice rates with a nice pitty system (150 pulls). Characters are varried and have flavor, lots of content to grind. Both live pvp and vs AI PvP. Cool music score. Slightly intricate UI and menus. The only downsides i have is the somewhat chaotic combat system and the paid currency for the Awakened Characters. However, all units are viable. I personally love taking unique low rarity characters (like soldiers or tanks, or some R tier Counter) and maxing the shit out of them. As always waifu/fun > meta. This is a really underrated gem.
edit : Reminds me of God Eater for some reason : https://youtu.be/Cx9ZsWEyWxU Very gud.
it's a good time killer, can be heavy grind esp. currency because you need to balance your team 1 and 2 levels for several missions. some side quest, events you need to deploy soldiers and merch as well. everything is being use for deployment even those not so bright units. i think this is a decent game make you think strategy as well and build a balance team for every situation.
gacha is not that bad and rewards are generous it's up to you how you spend it wisely for upgrades etc.
some in app purchase is not being overprice and thankfully there is no VIP system for those heavy spender.
(i guess?) still this is pretty f2p friendly as well.
has lots of things to do but everything is for upgrading ships and counters etc. that's why it is heavy grind game. you can auto repeat if you want btw.
but you know first thing i see waifus and bewbs i know this is the game worth playing for, worry not there is husbando as well for you ladies. 😏
The game can be played by p2w or f2p but f2p will have a bit of hard time to get something out of the gacha so f2p player will to rely on stacking ticket or in this case, employment contracts and pump those out to what characters u want to pull.
Visually stunning n cool, quite a fanservice here n there. Full l2d chars with most of them voiced. The story is good. The soundtracks r cool, lots of electronic style during battle. Sometimes dramatic, sometimes classy. Lots of genre of song mixed in. The intro loading is lit with though the lyrics is kinda funny but who cares? a jam is the JAM!
SKINS! well since the game is generous in giving the ingame currency by doing dailies n weekly. There r skins that u can get by quartz(ingame currency) but there is mostly skin that's using paid currency aka admin coins so if u wanna support them, buy some skins etc.
gameplay wise, its a strategy, side-scrolling game with PvE n PvP elements. if you don't like the PvP, just stay away from it. its good to play PvP from time to time for the reward it gives every week. Lots of different types of enemies n bosses, form ur team to cover each of their weaknesses n win. One main point of the game is GEARS. U will need them, a lot of them for many different situations.
There's a lot of conveniences about the game to ease ur farming, there's the auto battle function, auto repeat, stack stage system, complete all or claim all button. so u can leave it on repeat while doing other things.
Overall its a good game.
Now one thing I might point out to criticise about the game is in the phone specs, to those out there who wants to play the game, make sure u have 4gb RAM or higher phone recommended. I play in 3gb RAM phone, runs ok but quite laggy with the skill effects n such. but its not like it is not playable but everyone wants a smoother gameplay to play the game IMO. If not, just play it on PC. the game had a PC client ver. google it.
Nevertheless I'm very satisfied to play the game. Keep gaming!
