I think what threw me off it even after pulling some awesome units is that this game is a catastrophiclly arduous grind. You simply look at the numbers of hours that is required to build up one unit as a f2p player, times that by at least 5 for a full team, and it easily ends up needing 1000hr+. Now, factor in the bullies you will meet in the arena who spend real cash to bash your ass - prospects aren't good. When all's said and done and you finally put up a good fight against these whales albeit losing most games against them, a new meta breaking unit will be released and instantly invalidates your thousands of hours of hard work. Heres some advice: forego your cyber identity as whale food, work hard and earn yourself some real achievements in life instead.
one the best waifu/husbando collector out there with the superb cg models with equally good voice acting the game is also generous enough with its premium currency which also means more pulls for waifus and husbandos but thats about all the great things this game offers to me, I still have it installed for the cg models alone.
Unfortunately despite the interesting story and the above praises this game is the most boring Final fantasy tactics game I have played and I have played almost all the Ff tactics games and the advance series are my faves.
The battles are slow and tedious, most of the time the best way to complete a stage is by out stating your opponents, character progression needs a lot of grinding especially in the weapon proficiency and brave/faith side of things. to cap it off there are better ff tactics games out there play those if ya want great gameplay play this one for the Waifus and husbandos.
I really love this game .
I love to say this game perfect but when i lost Joker from the P5 collab before and also my progress in story mode just reset . I don't why Queen survive the lost progress .
to be honest , i hope the gameplay like the oldies final fantasy like the strategy RPG style , where you choose attack or skills like fira , thundara and others . I really sad how from the beginning , i've been asked to speed it and then , i know how the games work . it's pretty convenient for someone who wants to relax in this game . I just want to feel the final fantasy vibe . i'm pretty hardcore in final fantasy . i still like it though . it's just my first impression is that , just that . should i say , suitable for mobile game....
overall , i like all the concept , the character arts and the storyline most . if you want to play , i recommend it . just experience it and you decide :)
there have been huge quality of life updates that have been brought to the global app and they really make what was half a year ago a niche but perfect console-ish FFTactics spinoff of the FFBE side franchises. Now the UI elements, crafting, guild perks, non-story missions for materials and other small touches are better in line for a good experience as an ongoing mobile game.
also the "watch ad for visore" got a healthy update better materials and better payout at the end.
plus the huge crisis of not being able to get limit break shards for limited units that do not have shard quests is eased with being in a guild with an upgraded barracks. is it slow? yes. but 2 a day is in line with the shard quests so at least it is fair.
ex-jobs are a little OP/broken and tilting the pvp towards whales but f2p players have access to great ex-job units and you can horde free currency for targetted banners since not all units are made equal. Tidus one of the kings of the meta was free. same with warrior of light about to get his ex-job. you have to put work into the unit but you wont be chasing a banner just to get it.
rounds of very liberal freebies every month or two also help in a big way.
if you only want to play the story and enjoy a really good FFtactics experience please dont spend a cent and this is console quality. good story good art good mechanics. worth the learning curve.
This title is one worth checking out if you are a fan of tactical battles very closely representing Final Fantasy Tactics, or entirely representing Alchemist Code, it has everything in the works to be a fantastic title.....Then corporate greed swoops in and really sucks a lot of the game dry to make it be unfun. There is a lot to say on this matter too. Behold.
The graphics, story and sound are all up there in my opinion of course, so it is beautiful to look at, the voices in any language you choose is amazing on top. This for a free to start title may be all you need if you just want to casually play and advance the story.
As soon as you delve a little deeper into character progression and how to obtain new things, the game absolutely falls apart, to explain this imagine a smooth train ride along the mountains followed by the driver purposely derailing the train off the mountain while the majority of passengers still survive.
You have characters, espers and artwork in this gacha pool. An esper comes with a unique artwork when you manage to get one. Now Dragalia Lost tried a similar system and it went horrendously they reworked the whole system, the fact this title thinks it is also ok shows how disconnected they are. On the same note, just getting one of the three aforementioned things above is not enough. Now you need shards, you can grind some shards minimally each day, you could try the normal summon that is free 3 times a day for maybe 1 shard of who you need, or you can ignore the gacha and buy shards in the shop for the same price as doing a gacha summon. The last point might sound good, but it is 600 shards to complete your character, it is 2000 currency for 40 shards. And you can farm 2 shards a day for that character on top. If you were to pull on the gacha and get a dupe of the character they would too give you 40 shards. This amount does change if someone is of lower rarity, but the general consensus is to not go all in on someone who is weaker.
I've not even touched on the gambling aspect of equipment, to gear the character after a long haul of currency to get their shards, you need weapons and armour for your army. When you refine equipment that is, to level it up to be stronger. The stats you obtain are random. You may just get hp on your magic stave. You then also need to craft multiples of the same gear to eventually merge them together to increase the gear between +1-5. Which gives your piece of equipment a passive that gets stronger each + it has been given while also resetting the level to 0. There are items you can get that can increase the chance of your gear gaining the stats you want for it however, it is only a chance.
And then you have the chocobo expeditions these give you items that you can feed to your espers to power them up, this is seemingly the most straightforward upgrade system in the game. However, all of these three things come together to make the game very time consuming at times, unfun to play outside of the mostly well written story or if you do not have friends for multiplayer.
If you are a fan of very slow progression where the game is forcefully slowing you down with a plethora of grind, stamina system and bad item drop rates. This might be the game for you to stick with, however I find it much more reasonable to suggest people play this title casually and for something like the story.
Overall this game is fine the first frustating things are arena. Lots, yes LOTS of whales they can easly beat your ass up in arena
Secondly, the ridiculous amount of shard you need to max an unit. You guess how many you need, yes you need 1.000 shards to max an unit (600 for awakening to 5* and 400 for EX job (lvl 100->lvl 120)).
And you dont pull for dupe in this game since UR dupes only gives you 40 shards.
Even in shop+unit training board+event mission they only give you about 600 shards? i forget. And 40 shards cost 2k vis (that is the gacha currency in this game) in the shop. You can only buy 200. More of that gonna cost paid vis.
Well actually you can passively gain shards in guild barracks but thats only 1 per 12 hour also you need to expand the capacity of that barracks so you dont need to login every hour just to resupply. You can find the amount of vis you need to expand the barracks in their discord. The cost are pretty expensive.
And you can only farm certain units shards (not collab units) in hard quest. The limit are vary from 3 per day to 1 per day. Yeah that will took a long time to grind.
The third one is the excess mindsphere. Well you know when you 5* an unit and when you got that unit shards it will convert to that unit mindsphere with a ratio of 1:1 for EX job. BUT once you maxed an unit (5* awakened + EX job aka lvl 120) when you got that unit shards, well you can't do anything with it since it's alr maxed and yes you cant convert your maxed unit shards or mindsphere to another unit shards or mindsphere which is sucks.
So when you're trying to play this game you need to reconsider bout the unit you're pulling except ur whale/leviathan. Better to join this game disc and ask if it's worth to pull or not. it's critical even for PVE like tower, boss challenge. If you want to pull an unit and instantly max that unit ASAP (since event unit training board and mission will be gone when their banner ends) you better prepare bout 40k vis. Yes, a goddamn 40k vis. Unless you want to wait for months till that unit maxed from your guild barracks.
Also when there's an event unit with their banner and mission, etc and you want that unit, always check daily shop and whimsy shop (RNG shop, can be triggered after certain amount of NRG(stamina)spent) for their shards. Just buy it whenever they available since when the event is active, both of that shop usually contain their shards like 90% chance of appearing.
Don't be fooled by the amount of freebies they gave you when you're a new.
So far good game, at first I dropped the games because I couldn't understand how the game mechanics work, but thanks to the tutorial update I now know what to do.
Yeah the gacha part is quite annoying, but the story so far is on par.I would recommend this to others, but it take those to have some self control to not use up their bank accounts for their favorite characters.
But if I had one complaint about this game, it would be its story missions, some missions requires magic or physical chains attack but doesn't make clear which one is to be used.
Most of the time you can't do them if you have over powered characters, so make sure you don't use characters that are over the required mission level and be sure you have esper cards that do multiple magic or normal hits.
If anything, I would have liked it if the game cut down on these types of missions, but what is a game without challenges! 😅
This is a solid Final Fantasy title with a really good storyline that develops dozens of characters from each nation as they engage in various conflicts across Ardra.
I personally play for the story, but it has tactics gameplay and auto for farming. I've been able to get every FF collab character the past year of collabs by just saving and not pulling on non-limited units. Over time you will get every non-limited anyways.
Building them all is another problem though as there are many time-gated and limited currencies for maxxing a unit so you have to pick your favorites. You can have a mono-element party or a party based on what you need.
Very grindy and pricy just to max/so that you can max a unit.. When you get a unit, you need to get not 5 not 7 but more than 10 dups just so you can max it.. 40 shards on a dups and you need 600 shards.. Oh just farm their shards by farming 10 a day, 10 shards out of 600 that you need but you can't farm 10 shards for a specific unit, it's also lock by 3/2/1 shard/s per day lol much worse if it's a limited unit because there is no way you can get their shards aside from the banner/shop during it's limited time, mostly 2 weeks.. They are somewhat generous on the events rewards but its just a small fraction compared to things you need and most of the materials for awakening are event rewards or shop paid items(60 paid gems) I just tried it out of curiosity, I guess this is not for me..
Gumi does not care about players, they're only interested in how they can get you to fork over your cash. This is coming from a Brave Frontier vet - gumi constantly introduces new yet unnecessary mechanics that require you to obtain the unit to clear the quest/event/trial. And if you don't have it, too bad. They basically couldn't care less about how you feel whether you're playing for free or pay-to-win. Stay away from this game.
